Unfortunately, whatever we do to protect our eyes, vision deteriorates with age. Vision deterioration cannot be stopped but there are some things patients can do to limit the effect of aging on eyesight:
DO
- Have regular eye examinations by an optician or opthamologist. Eye tests check for signs of any retinal, pupil damage, identify problems such as long and short sightedness and can detect signs of cataracts early.
- Follow the advice of opthamologists – glasses may not suit your image but if you need glasses -wear them!
- Eat a diet rich in antioxidants – antioxidants found in fruit and vegetables have been proven to help prevent vision problems. The myth that eating carrots will help you see in the dark isn’t quite true but Vitamin A has been proven to help prevent cataracts
- Wear sunglasses – UV rays are harmful to your eyes. Sunglasses with correct UV filters protect your eyes form the damaging rays
- Keep diabetes under control – Diabetes is one of the leading causes of vision problems and a major factor in cataract development
- Increase the amount of Omega3 in your diet – the vitamin found in oily fish helps to prevent age related blindness
Don’t
- Smoke – One more reason to quit, smoking has been found to speed up the deterioration of eyesight
- Strain eyes by trying to read in dim light – Always make sure there is enough light to avoid squinting
- Sit too close to a screen – Sit back from computers and any other monitors to protect your eyes
- Use neon light – swap to natural lighting or light bulbs
- Spend a long time looking at a computer -After 20mins, look away from the screen, focus on an object in the distance for 20seconds and look back again.

LASIK stands for Laser in situ Keratomileusis and it is a treatment that reshapes the cornea in order to produce clear vision. The LASIK refractive eye surgery procedure can treat myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness or longsightedness) often when the eyeball is too short or when the lens cannot become round enough, and astigmatism (a common condition where the cornea is not perfectly spherical, can be treated with eyeglasses, contact lenses, or laser eye surgery).
If you are interested in LASIK, an eye surgeon or ophthalmologist can determine. Here I foundef Free Lasik Evaluation
LASIK can be very successful when performed on the right patients, but it is not for everyone, LASIK patients should be at least 18 years old, demonstrate no change in refraction for at least one year, and have realistic expectations regarding the results of LASIK eye surgery. Patients who have experienced an eye infection or injury in the past year should not undergo LASIK. Have sufficient corneal thickness (the cornea is the trans-parent front part of the eye). A LASIK patient should have a cornea that is thick enough to allow the surgeon to safe-ly create a clean corneal flap of appropriate depth. The average LASIK surgery costs $499 to $2,500 per eye. Patients may pay for LASIK costs with cash, check, or credit card. Many doctors also offer LASIK financing to help cover the LASIK surgery cost.
LASIK is usually safe, the success rate for LASIK averages above 95 percent for most experienced LASIK surgeons. The LASIK procedure is typically near-painless because of the minimal amount of tissue affected.

Framed glasses which we are all familiar with have frames, inside which different kinds of lenses are put into. From the various materials of both frames and lenses as well as different functions of the glasses, we can also divide the glasses with frames into many different kinds. As for the eye contact lenses, just similar to glasses with frames, they could also be divided into a lot of kinds according to their different materials and functions. Anyway, no matter glasses with frames or contact lenses, what they have in common is that they can both be used as a decoration and as a useful tool that help us see things clearly, which means we could choose to wear the two kinds of lenses above according to our needs.
Usually speaking, for those who really have needs to wear glasses so as to have a normal sight, glasses and contact lenses can of course both help them. However, as a common sense that it is not healthy to wear contact lenses for a long time or when you are using your eyes too hard or too often. So in this case, when we have to spend quite a relatively long time in studying, reading or looking at the computer, we’d better choose to wear glasses with frames. And in cases such as going shopping or having a party or something alike, when you want to show your beautiful eyes, contact lenses might be a better choice.
Naturally, wearing a pair of glasses with frames, especially the one that fits you quite well, for some people, they may look prettier when having their glasses on. Glasses with frames could sometimes help you hide something unsatisfying about your eyes. Then for those who have attractive eyes, they probably would like to wear contact lenses as in this way, they can show their eyes out.
In all, glasses or contact lenses, the choice depends on you. Just think it over when you are going to make a choice.
