Vision correction – With less time and inconvenience

Due to stress and to the many hours spent on the computer, more people are developing eyesight problems. Today it is also very common to have irregular corneal shape that can result in an inability to work.

Some treatments can cause severe irregularities and certain diseases that make the risk of complications higher. But now, there are several ways available to correct the vision of those who are facing this problem. Lasik eye surgery is one of the most promising options for fast improvement in eyesight. Plus, lasik eye surgery is a fast and easy procedure with no pain involved. Lasik eye surgery uses the most recently developed technology and is best choice available for many eye problems.

However, Lasik is not the best vision correction surgery for everyone. Certain health conditions and hormonal imbalances need to be considered. Health conditions such as diabetes or any diseases that require the use of steroids or other drugs that slow the healing process or autoimmune disorders can be a problem when considering eye surgery.

But Lasik surgery is still the option that is comparatively better than other surgeries – it has one of the lowest risks involved. Therefore, Lasik surgery is one of the most popular eye surgeries. The most promising part of lasik vision correction surgery is that it can eliminate the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses and let you be able to do everyday things without having to worry about your eyes.

Wavefront lasik eye surgery can provide fast eyesight improvement. But, as any eye surgery, it should be done by a highly skilled surgeon

Some common eye surgeries are associated with pain and side effects.  Lasik Eye Surgery reduces the onset of certain side effects through its precision.  It is done with a sophisticated computer system that maps out the entire outer and inner eye of the patient.   Healing after surgery can be less complicated while at the same time helping the patient to improve their vision with minimal inconvenience and expense of time.

What to Expect During LASIK Eye Surgery?

What to expect before, during, and after surgery will vary from doctor to doctor and patient to patient.  The US FDA provides a compilation of patient information developed by manufacturers and healthcare professionals, but cannot replace the dialogue you should have with your Beverly Hills Lasik surgeon.  Read this information carefully and with the checklist, discuss your expectations with your doctor.

The surgery itself should take less than 30 minutes. You will lie on your back in a reclining chair in an exam room containing the laser system. The laser system includes a large machine with a microscope attached to it and a computer screen.

A numbing drop will be placed in your eye by a skilled Lasik surgeon Los Angeles laser eye surgery experts tell us, the area around your eye will be cleaned, and an instrument called a lid speculum will be used to hold your eyelids open.

Your doctor may use a mechanical microkeratome (a blade device) to cut a flap in the cornea. If a mechanical microkeratome is used, a ring will be placed on your eye and very high pressures will be applied to create suction to the cornea. Your vision will dim while the suction ring is on and you may feel the pressure and experience some discomfort during this part of the procedure. The microkeratome, a cutting instrument, is attached to the suction ring. Your doctor will use the blade of the microkeratome to cut a flap in your cornea. Microkeratome blades are meant to be used only once and then thrown out. The microkeratome and the suction ring are then removed.

According to a top Lasik doctor Los Angeles laser eye specialists may use a laser keratome (a laser device), instead of a mechanical microkeratome, to cut a flap on the cornea. If a laser keratome is used, the cornea is flattened with a clear plastic plate. Your vision will dim and you may feel the pressure and experience some discomfort during this part of the procedure. Laser energy is focused inside the cornea tissue, creating thousands of small bubbles of gas and water that expand and connect to separate the tissue underneath the cornea surface, creating a flap. The plate is then removed.

You will be able to see, but you will experience fluctuating degrees of blurred vision during the rest of the procedure. The doctor will then lift the flap and fold it back on its hinge, and dry the exposed tissue. The laser will be positioned over your eye and you will be asked to stare at a light. This is not the laser used to remove tissue from the cornea. This light is to help you keep your eye fixed on one spot once the laser comes on.

When your eye is in the correct position, your doctor will start the laser. At this point in the surgery, you may become aware of new sounds and smells. The pulse of the laser makes a ticking sound. As the laser removes corneal tissue, some people have reported a smell similar to burning hair. A computer controls the amount of laser energy delivered to your eye. Before the start of surgery, your Beverly Hills Lasik eye doctor will have programmed the computer to vaporize a particular amount of tissue based on the measurements taken at your initial evaluation. After the pulses of laser energy vaporize the corneal tissue, the flap is put back into position.

A shield should be placed over your eye at the end of the procedure as protection, since no stitches are used to hold the flap in place. It is important for you to wear this shield to prevent you from rubbing your eye and putting pressure on your eye while you sleep, and to protect your eye from accidentally being hit or poked until the flap has healed.

With the two most popular procedures by Lasik, you will find that the main goal is reshaping the cornea itself. The cornea is the base of all vision problems. Cataracts: The Symptoms and Common Causes

Cataracts are a common ailment among the elderly. Did you know that certain jobs can raise your chances of getting cataracts at an earlier age? Several diseases and medications can increase your chances of developing cataracts as well. In this article we will explore the signs and symptoms of cataracts as well as the common causes and treatments. We will also go into a few ways that you can help to prevent their development while living comfortably in your Capitola beach homes.

Common Causes

As we all know the most common cause for cataracts is aging. Everyone hates to admit, but as we get older things in our bodies tend to change and not for the better. These are called anterior cataracts and are caused by the denaturation of the lens fluid proteins. Clouding of the lens occurs. This clouding is caused by proteins building up and not letting light pass through the lens. Intense UV rays for the bright sun near your Capitola beach homes is another contributing factor.

Other than aging, there are several factors that can cause cataracts. A family history can cause you to have cataracts earlier in life. They can also be caused by eye injury and certain types of head trauma. Glass blowers and airline pilots are more susceptible to cataracts because of the nature of their jobs.

Symptoms

The clouding of the lens can cause a wide variety of symptoms. In the early stages you can have near-sightedness as the only symptom that you show. As the disease progresses you may experience foggy vision, faded looking colors, double vision, a struggle to read normal text, or a decreased sensitivity to light. The decreased sensitivity to light is a double whammy because one of the things that can cause cataracts are UV rays from the Sun. If you aren’t as sensitive, you may not wear sunglasses and expose yourself to more rays that will, in turn, worsen your cataracts. All of these symptoms can make driving near your Capitola beach homes very dangerous.

Treatment

The only completely successful treatment for cataracts is surgery. This is a surgery that has been practiced for centuries. The ancient Hindus seem to have pioneered the procedure in the 6th century B.C.  They would open the lens and push the cataract out of the line of vision and soak the eye in warm butter.  Infection was a definite issue until the Romans got into the game. An Iraqi doctor invented the hypodermic needle in 1000 A.D. and used it to fully remove cataracts for the first time.

Modern surgery usually involves the removal of the lens completely.  There is very little chance of infection and patients go home the same day.  Most people only require the use of reading glasses if they need any vision assistance at all. Take full advantage of the eye treatment facilities near your Capitola beach homes to keep your vision in the best shape you can for as long as possible.

Prevention

Although cataracts have no scientifically proven prevention, it is sometimes said that wearing UV-protecting sunglasses may slow the development of cataracts. Regular intake of antioxidants (such as vitamin A, C and E) is thought to be  helpful, but there has not been enough study to say for certain. You can ask an herbalist or eye care specialist near your Capitola beach homes.

Eye care specialists near your Capitola beach homes will be able to diagnose and treat any cataract problems you may have.  Luckily, today’s eye surgery is very successful and easy on the patient.  Here are some helpful links so you can learn more about cataracts and their treatment.
