Symptoms and treatments of amblyopia

There is vision problem called amblyopia or lazy eye among children below six, which always affects only one eye. Its symptoms include eyestrain, overall poor visual acuity, headache, and one-eye squinting. The patient can also realize the fact that his two eyes are not equally functioning.

Trauma, strong uncorrected nearsightedness or farsightedness and strabismus are some of the reasons that may cause amblyopia. People with amblyopia usually have poor central vision in one eye. Potential blindness can be caused if amblyopia is left untreated.

Since the brain turns off the weaker eye, one treatment for amblyopia is vision therapy exercise, which forces the brain to see through the amblyopic eye. The most common application is patching the stronger eye, which may take several hours each day or all day long for weeks. For convenience, children can take use of prosthetic contact lenses, which block vision in the stronger eye while offering natural eye color.

Atropine eye drops can also be placed in the stronger eye and then its vision can be blurred. This way of treatment eliminates the constant vigilance to check the patch. Certain studies have proved that atropine drops have become an effective alternative to patching. The disadvantage of atropine is its broad side effects, including light sensitivity, flushing and potential paralysis.

Since strong uncorrected refractive error can be one of the reasons that cause amblyopia, corrective eyeglasses and contact lenses may be prescribed to treat this vision problem. And sometimes eyeglasses are in a combination of patching.

The best way to treat strabismus-caused amblyopia is surgery, which corrects the problematic muscles.

Early treatment of amblyopia is essential, since it will never disappear naturally and may lead to permanent visual problem as serious as vision loss. And the risk of eye diseases on the stronger eye should also be considered.

Several Useful Eyes Exercises

It is acknowledged that eyes play an important role in our life. But when facing the fact that your eyes keep getting worse, what can you do? Just simply increase the degree of your prescription glasses? Absolutely, you need to take some other effective actions to protect your eyes, doing eye exercises, for example. And I accidently get several useful sets of eye exercises from an experienced expert . So today I want to share them with all of you, hoping that they may help you in some way.

First one: warm the eyes
When you get up in the morning, you should first of all rub your hands to warm them up and then put them on closed eyes. Do this for three times. Secondly, apply your index finger and the middle finger to press the eyeballs or the areas around the eyeball.

Second one: move the eyes
Stand up with two legs separated (The width of separation should be almost the same as that of the shoulders.), and square your shoulders with head slightly up. Open your eyes and try your best to move the eyes continually without head moving. First you may start from right to left for 10 times, and then from left to right for another 10 times. After this, you may have a rest to let the muscles get relaxed. Then continue the eye movement for at least 3 times. This method of eye exercises may be carried out in the flower garden, and will bring about the effect of clear mind and bright eyes.

Third one: lower the head
Take the position of squat and use the two hands to hold the foot fingers separately. Then you may apply a small amount of force to lift the feet. At this moment, you’d better try your best to lower your head so as to move the essential energy from the belly to the head, which will nourish ears and eyes.

Fourth one: fold the fingers
You should do this in the morning and evening every day – to fold the little finger inside for once and move it to the another direction to have it extend. This process should be done for about 30 to 50 times and then use the thumb and index finger to knead the base of the little finger for around 50 to 100 times. This way of exercises could happen when you are sitting, standing up, or lying down-it’s up to you. If you can keep on, it not only brings you clear brain and bright eyes, but also has the certain effect of curing the cataract and other eye diseases.

The above-mentioned methods could be done separately or you can choose 2 or 3 to combine together. The point is you must stick to do these eye exercises every day, and then it will work.

Recovering from LASIK Surgery

LASIK surgery takes less than 15 minutes to perform. Most patients experience improved vision immediately, although complete LASIK surgery recovery can take up to six months as vision takes some time to stabilize following surgery.

Following LASIK surgery, patients can expect a short recovery period. You may be required to wear a protective shield over your eyes for the first night or two following procedures. Your doctor may also instruct you to take antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, or moistening eye drops, and to wear dark eyeglasses if you experience sensitivity to bright lights.

Although LASIK complications can occur, most vision correction patients are able to return to work and other daily activities the day after the procedure. There is usually little to no discomfort after LASIK surgery and follow-up exams during recovery are required to ensure that your eyes heal properly. It is recommended that you go to sleep right after LASIK surgery to reduce post-operative pain. When you wake up, you should already notice improved vision.

Nearsighted patients who undergo LASIK surgery typically return to functional vision the day after the procedure. Although some patients experience difficulty reading the first few days, this is normal, as it may take one to three months for final vision to stabilize.

Farsighted LASIK surgery patients usually experience dramatic results the day after LASIK. Although distance optics may appear blurry, this is also temporary.

Generally, it is considered more difficult to correct astigmatism than farsightedness or nearsightedness. Nevertheless, LASIK surgery statistics show that many astigmatism patients are still LASIK candidates and can achieve great results and dramatically improved vision.

After LASIK surgery, you should lie down, relax, and close your eyes. Watching television, reading, or operating a computer should be avoided for the first 24 hours. The LASIK surgery recovery process requires your eyes to remain relaxed.

Do not rub your eyes. Protective eye shields should be worn for the first seven nights. Some patients report a mild burning sensation two to four hours into the LASIK surgery recovery as they anesthetic wears off. The sensation resembles wearing an itchy or dirty contact lens.

Wear sunglasses after surgery – rain or shine. Take baths instead of showers for the first 24 hours after surgery and be careful not allow the shower to spray directly into your face for the first week. Use a face cloth and be careful not to rub your eyes. Avoid eye makup and smoky or dusty environments for a week. Avoid alcohol consumption for 48 hours after LASIK surgery.

Your surgeon or ophthalmologist will schedule follow-up appointments to monitor your LASIK results and potential problems such as epithelial growth. Contact your physician immediately if you experience any complications.

Buying my sunglasses online for the first time

I’m a salesman. My work requires me to run outside almost everyday which is really a tough job, especially in summer when the sunlight is harsh. My eyes are easily to get sore. Therefore, I need to a pair of sunglasses to protect my eyes from sunlight and UV. However, for the tiring job, each time when I am off duty, I feel so exhausted that I even am not willing to make another move, not to mention to hang out for shopping. Thus, I have to suffer every second from the sunlight every day until one day one of my friends suggested me to buy a pair of sunglasses on line.

Frankly speaking, I am not confident about buying things online at the beginning, because the quality can not be guaranteed. Nevertheless, in dire need of sunglasses, I decide to have a try to shop on www.Firmoo.com. On opening the web page, a variety of sunglasses come into sight. All styles from oversized sunglasses to sport sunglasses and from those made out of plastic to metal are provided there. At first, I am at a loss about which one to choose facing that dazzling products. After a simple realization to the instruction in that web, I finally search a pair, a real combination of fashion and practice which is suitable for me to wear when I am on work.

About 14 days later, I receive the sunglasses I order from the Internet. Contrary to my expectations, I get almost the same sunglasses as I see on the web except for a little bit chromatic aberration. They are fashionable and are comfortable to wear and I no longer have to suffer the harsh sunlight when I go out for work. And the point is that it just costs me $12.95, along with another $4.95 of shipping which is really a big discount.

The experience of buying sunglasses on line this time tells me that on-line shopping is not that untrustworthy. As long as logging in formal website, sitting at home and clicking, you’ll get what you want.

How to Improve Bad Eyesight: 4 Easy Steps

Like many people online today, I love social networking and have met some really amazing people through these types of sites.  I was online the other day and ran across a lady that was heading to the doctor for a checkup because she was having some vision problems.  I sent her a little note to let her know that I had found an eBook that explained how you could improve bad eyesight naturally.  I thought she might want to check it out.  To say the least, she was very skeptical.

I was too when I first came across this book because there is so much junk being offered online today.  If I purchased everything I have ever run across that I thought might be good, I would be broke and homeless by now.  But, I have been wearing reading glasses for almost ten years and if I could avoid having to wear them permanently, which of course is definitely the next step, than I thought it might be worth it.  I especially will purchase products when I know they have a money back guarantee.

So I read through the book and was very impressed.  I feel almost embarrassed when I find things like this that make so much sense and I just had no idea that this is all it took to naturally improve my bad eyesight.

After reading the book in its entirety, it suggested that you only do the exercises that you enjoy the most to help improve your eyesight.  These are the exercises I have chosen to do on a daily basis:

1.  Each morning when I’m brushing my teeth, I splash cold water on my eyes.

2.  I have a timer at my desk and set it for every hour.  When the timer goes off, I stop what I’m doing and I either get up and move around or just look away from my work and glance around the room.  Taking a five to ten minute break every hour will help your eyesight.

3.  Before I eat my dinner, I do the swinging exercise standing in front of my window.

4.  Before I turn in for the night, I put a dark cloth over my eyes and totally relax them before going to sleep.

I will admit that I was not as consistent in the beginning but am on a regular schedule now.  I am seeing some vast improvement since implementing these exercises.  I don’t have to wear my glasses to read everything now.  I also use to wear them when I drove at night because there was a haze around all of the lights.  I no longer am wearing them at night and there is no more haze.

We are all born skeptics until proven wrong and I’m so thankful that I was proven wrong in this case.  With each new day, my eyesight is improving more and more and my future is looking brighter.
