Methods To Improve Eyesight Naturally

There are many methods available to improve eyesight naturally, but there are some basic components of a decent eye health diet and a set of habits to maintain that are worth knowing. It will likely not be obvious initially as to exactly what the benefits are of following this plan, but the results will be self-evident over time. An increase in strength of vision and clarity is inevitable. Here is a basic guide:

1) The widely available Vitamins C, A, and E all have a role in facilitating strength of eyesight, while Vitamins A and E have antioxidant properties that are an added bonus and help a body act healthily in general.

2) Lutein, which is found in the darkest, leafy green vegetables and Omega 3 fatty acids, which are found in fish oils, are also useful to maintain and improve eye health. The fish oil, especially, helps make nerve cells stronger and is a general supplement useful in the nervous system of the body.

3) Carrots are not nearly as useful as popular legend makes them out to be, but they are worthwhile nonetheless, with a minor degree of benefit that boosts eye health.

4) There are other methods available to improve eyesight naturally that are all about simply controlling one’s interaction with devices that strain the eyes (e. G. Computers and televisions). As a general rule of thumb, include 15 minutes of eye relaxing exercises for every 45 minutes of devoted attention to a particular type of screen.

5) When taking a break away from devices that strain the eyes, there are certain activities that one can do to improve eyesight. For example, closing the eyes, concentrating, and then taking deep breaths can constitute a comprehensive relaxation exercise.

6) Meditation, an infrequently used method to improve the eyes, also yields major benefits. More importantly though, since meditation facilitates a relaxation of all muscles, it can increase hand to eye coordination, which would place less strain on the eyes overall.

Eye supplements for healthy vision

Healthy vision or good eyesight requires certain nutrients from a healthy diet or eye supplements. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommends that a healthy diet should emphasize fruits, vegetables, whole grains and fat-free or low-fat milk and milk products. It should also include lean meats, poultry, fish, beans, eggs and nuts. In fact, many Americans take a diet that is high in calorie but low in nutrient. A healthy diet should still low in saturated fats, trans fats, cholesterol, salt and added sugars. If your diet is not healthy enough, multivitamins and mineral supplements can offer enough nutrients that your eyes needs.

These supplements protect you from degenerative eye diseases such as macular degeneration and cataracts. The Age-Related Eye Disease Study (AREDS) investigated the natural history and risk factors of macular degeneration and cataracts and evaluated the effect of high doses of antioxidants zinc on the two diseases’ progression in the 1990s. AREDS recommended a formula that can significantly reduce the risk of advanced macular degeneration. The formula contains Vitamin C, E and A, Zinc and copper. AREDS also found that antioxidant eye vitamins can decrease the risk of developing cataracts. A follow-up study named AREDS2 aim at evaluating the effects of other nutrients such as lutein, zeaxanthin and omega-3 fatty acids.

In detail, vision multivitamins should contain certain ingredients. These elements are essential in preventing the deterioration of degenerative eye diseases. Vitamins A helps maintain night vision and heal wounds. Vitamin B complex including B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and B12 helps decrease chronic inflammation and prevent macular degeneration as well as treat uveitis. Vitamin C and E are also included by the AREDS formula. Lutein and zeaxanthin may also play a role in reducing macular degeneration and cataracts. While phytochemical antioxidants protect eyes from oxidative stress, omega-3 essential fatty acids have been proved to lower the incidence of developing dry eye.

Among various multivitamins solutions, popular brands such as ICaps, Ocuvite PreserVision, Oculaire and MacuTrition are more convincing. Some tips are important when you choose multivitamins. You should check the expiration date and the bottle seal. Doses are also critical that you must strictly follow the dosage instructions on the bottle. Supplements that contain filters such as dairy products, corn and wheat are not suitable for people with allergies. High bioavailability enables your body to absorb nutrients more easily. And capsules are also easier for absorption than hard tablets.

You should also be aware of safety issues while taking eye supplements. Pregnant and nursing individuals need additional care.

Improve Your Vision Naturally – Important Diet and Exercise Tips

Much has been written about ways to improve your eyesight naturally and to enjoy life again without the need for glasses. The most encouraging thing you can know is that this is entirely possible for the majority of people who take the time to research this topic. However, it won’t just happen because you want it to, some definite changes need to be made in your lifestyle and an effort on your part is required.

The good news here is that this is not at all hard to do. In actuality this is quite simple and your overall health and well being will benefit along with your vision.

So Lets get started by understanding what got us here.

The eyes are an important part of our body, and like our body, suffer from some of the same problems we subject ourselves to. Things like poor diet, over use and under use of certain muscle groups (muscles control and shape the eye), lack of exercise, stress and strain and much more, contribute to our failing eyesight.

Now is the time to “Make a New You Resolution”

At the top of our resolution list is Diet.

A good and sensible diet is important to eye health. We have, since grade school known about the benefits to eyesight that consuming carrots create. But other foods are equally important to improving eyesight as well.

Cold water fish are a source of DHA and recommended to prevent dry eye

Spinach, kale and other green leafy vegetables are rich in carotenoids, and help to protect the eyes from sun and blue light damage. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins like A, C, E and beta-carotene, all needed for healthy eyes. Yellow vegetables like carrots and squash are important for day time vision. Eggs are a source of protein and also assist in preventing cataracts. Other important foods are garlic, onions and shallots (antioxidants), Soy (rich in protein), Blueberries and grapes (improve night vision), Nuts, legumes and whole grains (Omega – 3 fatty acids, lower cholesterol and stabilize cell membranes).

An overall healthy diet is important here, many popular diets can work for you, but careful research and consideration should be applied by you, as some diets can have an unhealthy effect on you. My personal favorite and one that I enjoy is the Mediterranean diet as it uses all the healthy foods mentioned here and has few restrictions and is rich in flavor and nutrients.

Improved eyesight is just one benefit here, other side effects can be weight loss, reduced body fat, lower cholesterol, more energy and a big boost in self esteem, just to name a few. Not bad so far.

Our next resolution is Exercise.

Key here is exercise and relaxation techniques specific to the eye; however an overall body exercise regime would compliment our healthy diet very well. Some easy exercises to get us started.

Sit, relax and roll the eyes slowly clockwise and counter-clockwise. Repeat this six times blinking between each.

Focus on a far away object 150 feet away and slowly bring your focus to an object 30 feet away repeat far and near focusing a half dozen times, blinking to keep the eyes moist.

Next extend your arm holding a pen and focus on it as you slowly bring it toward you until you lose focus, slowly back and forth as you focus on the pen, 3 sets of ten in between other exercises.

Try to lose your dependency on your glasses by not wearing them as often as you can do without them. Without straining to see this can help relax and strengthen them as well.

Relax by closing your eyes and very lightly massage them with your fingertips with a slow circular motion. Extend this massage to your temples and around your eye sockets while breathing slow and deep.

These are just a few techniques and tips you can begin to use on your way to improve your vision naturally. They alone may not be sufficient to improve your eyesight naturally but along with other exercises, techniques and diet you implement as a daily routine will help you to attain this goal. Research this topic and you can find much information to help you.

A healthy diet for cataracts prevention

Cataracts have become one of the most significant causes of blindness, so that a large number of studies and researches are focusing on the way to prevent cataracts or slow down their progression. Herbs have been proved to be effective in decreasing the risk of cataracts in mice, but relative researches in human body are rare. You should be cautious about taking herbs as a medicinal remedy. Many more studies are now underway about the influence of a healthy diet on cataracts prevention. Antioxidants and certain vitamins are considered possibly effective to decrease cataracts and slow their advancement.

Exposure to pollution, chemicals, smoking, radiation exposure and unhealthy foods can cause free radicals, which in turn lead to oxidation in human body including eyes. Free radicals in the body have unpaired electrons so that they stole an electron from another molecule. This unpaired molecule in turn tries to get an electron from another molecule. In this way, many healthy cells of organs and other tissues will be damaged. This process is named oxidation, which damages proteins and fats in the eye’s lens and causes cataracts.

Be clear of the principle of oxidation, nutrient experts recommend antioxidants including some vitamins and phytochemicals to reduce oxidation formation so that cataracts can be avoided. Studies have showed that antioxidants such as vitamin C, A and E and lutein have potential effect in preventing cataracts. Antioxidants can be found in foods such as fruits and colorful or dark green vegetables. These vegetables also contain folic acid and calcium, which may also reduce the risk of cataracts.

In this consideration, experts recommend a healthy diet that includes fruits, vegetables and whole grains. Fish are rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids, which may be also effective. An exactly healthy diet should contain nine servings of fruits and vegetables, three serving of 100% whole grains every day and two servings of fish every week. And the daily calories consumption should not exceed the basic need to maintain a healthy weight.

People still have different opinions about the sources of those nutrients, antioxidants and phytochemicals. In the market, dietary supplements are available in many forms. While some experts insist on a healthy diet, others argue that dietary supplements are helpful addition to even a healthy diet.

A healthy diet should avoid unhealthy foods such as fried foods, processed foods, sugary foods, and foods rich in sodium. High consumption of salt and sugary may increase the risk of cataracts. Extra soft drinks, desserts, greasy snack foods and fast foods should also be reduced or stopped. Just enjoy delicious fruits, vegetables and fresh fish.
