Laser eye surgery is a simple yet life-changing procedure, with the ability to alter your lifestyle and self-confidence. While the procedure itself can be performed quickly and easily – and with highly innovative optical laser equipment – it’s still imperative to have a good laser eye surgeon carry out the procedure.

However, with all the laser eye surgeons out there, the task of finding the best one can seem daunting. Countless reviews and advertisements claim to have the answer; but in the end, it’s up to you to find a surgeon who’s right for your own optical needs. In searching for the right surgeon, it’s wise to follow a few important guidelines that will point you in the right direction.

To begin, you should always ensure that every potential laser eye surgeon has the appropriate licensing and board certification. Past these vital pieces of criteria, you can meet with potential surgeons to ask some questions, regarding anything from the surgeon’s experience to the actual procedure. A quality surgeon will always be willing to spend pre-operative time with potential patients to answer questions, as well as to help build the patient’s confidence in the procedure and in his or her work.

Next, don’t underestimate referrals and reviews. Ask your regular optometrist whether he or she recommends any laser eye surgeons in particular. In addition, with the increasing popularity of laser eye surgery, chances are you’ll know someone who has had the procedure done – so keep your ears open for referrals from friends or family. Whether a past patient was pleased or dissatisfied with their laser eye surgery procedure, they’ll usually be more than happy to share their experience. If you’re not able to get a personal recommendation, try searching the internet for patient forums and reviews. You can also ask surgeons to show you testimonials from former laser eye surgery patients; however, such testimonials should be verified when possible.

Finally, you’ll want to consider cost in your search for a laser eye surgeon. While there are many discount laser eye surgery deals on the market, you certainly don’t want to compromise the quality of your procedure to save a few extra pounds. When it comes to something as important as your eyes, it’s worth taking out finance rather than settling for a mid quality procedure. However, with regard to laser eye surgery cost, you should always find out what is included in the price. Some surgeons might charge extra for consultations, after care, and post operative corrections, while others will include all of these services in their upfront cost. Make sure you find out what your quoted surgery will include, to ensure you’re not faced with any surprises down the line.

So, remember that finding a good laser eye surgeon is critical when seeking laser eye surgery. Follow a few important guidelines during your search, and you’re sure to find a surgeon who fits your personal optical needs and requirements.

Laser eye surgery is now one of the most common optical procedures in the UK, with thousands of Brits seeking the procedure as an alternative to wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses. It’s suitable for patients with all types of vision correction needs, ranging from short and long sightedness to astigmatisms. What’s more, laser eye surgery is one of the most developed procedures in the optical world, utilising innovative and highly advanced computer controlled lasers to improve a patient’s vision.

While thousands seek the procedure to correct their vision, motivations behind the correction can vary significantly. For instance, countless people seek laser eye surgery simply because it makes everyday life easier. Many people tire of having to search for their glasses first thing in the morning when they open their eyes. Correcting their vision through surgery, however, enables them to see clearly, no matter what time of day. Family life is also often made easier, with parents able to attend to children quickly at night, and never having to worry about children breaking their glasses.

Comfort is another issue when it comes to seeking laser eye surgery. Many contact lens wearers, for example, suffer from dry eyes – particularly in air-conditioned areas – while those who wear glasses often feel their eyes tire out by the end of the day. Contacts and glasses also need to be cleaned on a regular basis, while glasses can easily become fogged in certain environments. Finally, many contact lens wearers can experience infections and abrasions if they’re not careful with how they wear their lenses. Laser eye surgery can tend to all of these circumstances by eliminating the need to wear contacts or glasses altogether.

Another major reason that people seek laser eye surgery is because it enables them to partake in activities that are harder to enjoy with glasses or contacts – for example, swimming, diving, rugby, or tennis. With corrected vision, patients don’t have to worry about their glasses breaking, or their contacts falling out – they can simply enjoy their favourite activities with perfect eyesight.

Finally, one of the biggest motivations behind seeking laser eye surgery is that it enhances self-confidence. Many people feel that not having to wear glasses improves their appearance, which can subsequently boost their confidence and help their performance at work and in personal relationships.

If you’re seeking laser eye surgery, it’s important to find a surgeon who fits your optical needs. It’s also essential that you never decide on a laser eye surgeon or clinic based purely on the cost of eye laser treatment. Paying that extra bit of money could mean you get a higher quality procedure, so it’s vital that you do your research, seek referrals and reviews, and meet with potential surgeons to discuss your laser eye surgery needs.

Glaucoma is a disease that affects the eyes and if not treated can permanently damage the optical nerve which can result in blindness and loss of vision. This article will detail a few Glaucoma therapy treatments available and the advantages and disadvantages regarding each.

The damage caused by glaucoma is commonly caused by a high intra-ocular pressure. This pressure is provided by a clear liquid, aqueous humor, which flows through the eye helps to maintain and nourish the tissue within the eye.

In circumstances where the production of this liquid is increased and the methods for drainage are decreased damage occurs to the nerves and peripheral sight is lost, this effect is called Open Angle Glaucoma (OAG).

A way to treat this form OAG is to assist in lowering the pressure within the eye, the treatment for this is usually through eye drops, laser therapy or surgery.

The most common Glaucoma therapy treatments are the eye drops, the disadvantages for using eye drops are that they can be expensive, messy and can have side effects. In addition to this depending on the severity of the OAG you may need to use them for the remainder of your life. Some of these drops assist in draining the fluid whilst others act to reduce the amount of fluid produced, the effect being the same.

Lasers also can be used for Glaucoma therapy. This technique is called laser therapy. Laser therapy uses lasers to target the cells in the eye which contain melanin which is a natural pigment. The body will then act to repair the damaged cells and as an effect of this will decrease the pressure that has built up within the eye.

Glaucoma as stated can cause permanent loss of vision if it is not treated. There is no way to determine whether the glaucoma has been successfully controlled and as such if you have this condition you should make regular trips to your GP to ensure it does not get out of control.

In modern times, we have to work under great pressure that can cause great tension and fatigue to our eyes. And most of us have to suffer from various sorts of eye problems just for this reason. Wearing eyeglass is one of the best and safest ways to deal with such problems. However, we are always bothered by the question-how to select good and suitable eyeglass. Here is an introduction to eyeglass and you may get the information that you need before selecting it.

History

Over 7centuries have been past since the first eyeglass made its appearance. It gets changed very slowly in the early several centuries. But some achievements are gained in its model, its frame, and lenses. However, great changes have been taken place since the 20th century. For example, plastic, polymer, and many other intelligent materials can be used to make its frame, lenses. In particular, in the new century, the meaning of eyeglass is broadened.

Improvements

Judging from the standard before the 20th century, eyeglass is made of three parts, namely, the frame, the lens, and the nose pad. Nevertheless, in modern times, eyeglass may not have all those features, such as, rimless eyeglass.

The original function of eyeglass is vision correction. And this is also the great sales point for eyeglass. Many eye problems can be treated with eyeglass, including the commonest ones, as nearsightedness, farsightedness, etc. Special eyeglass is also designed to cope with some hard-to-cure eye problems. Bifocal and trifocal are very typical examples.

New features

Furthermore, good eyeglass has some very nice characteristics that can not be found in traditional ones. The first one is UV blocking. There are many harmful radiations and rays in the sun light and they can cause great damage to our eyes if our eyes are directly exposed to them. The UV blocking eyeglass can filter out all such rays. Another is anti-scratch. Lenses scratch easily and this will damage eyeglass. A special anti-scratch coating is imprinted on the lenses and they will not be easily scratched. Anti-explosion is another feature can be found in good eyeglass. In the past, breaking glass can lead to great injury to our eyes, for the glass breaks easily. Now anti-explosive eyeglass will not break into pieces though struck by strong external force.

Derivation

Sometimes, lens will be tinted for some particular purposes. Doing so has led to the emergence of sunglass. Sunglass is a special kind of eyeglass and it can also be used to rectify eye sight. Tinted eyeglass, sunglass, has gained great popularity just because of its colors.

Accessory

Some designers are struck by the inspiration that tinted eyeglass is very popular. And they instill some fashionable elements into eyeglass. Henceforth, eyeglass becomes one of the most important accessories for many people. They will have to consider what kind of coats and shoes to match with the glass and in which way they will be looked much nicer, etc. Or special eyeglass that can be fold up is usually used as hangs.

All above mentioned information can give you a clear idea of what eyeglass is and the features that good eyeglass possesses. If you want to select good eyeglass, more attention should be paid to the latter part of this article.

Firmoo.com is the emerging online optical store selling high quality eyewear, such as prescription eyeglasses (single vision myopic glasses, reading glasses, bifocal and progressive eyeglasses etc.,), prescription sunglasses (with RX tinted lenses), prescription sports goggles. Firmoo guarantees lowest possible price in the market. Firmoo’s return and refund policy makes any purchase risk-free ones.

Thinking about eye surgery using a Lasik procedure is a big step, and many people are a little hesitant to ask the questions that they have. The Lasik procedure, though widely talked about, is not discussed in detail, and people tend to fear the unknown. This article addresses some of the more commonly held fears, and talks about the experience for the vast majority of people that undergo a Lasik procedure.

One of the most common fear, both when it comes to the Lasik surgery and any operation in general is the fear of pain during and after the surgery. When a Lasik surgery is performed the eye is applied with numbing drops. The patient also receives a mild sedative so they can relax and feel comfortable. So even though you may feel a minor pressure to the eye, it is relatively pain free

The surgeon does use a laser in the eye to help reshape the cornea during the Lasik procedure. Many folks are worried about the laser being shone directly into the eye, or that they might look away and, due to this, develop a serious complication with their eyes and the Lasik laser beam effects. In actuality, the laser is only active for ten to fifteen seconds for each eye, and the Lasik machine has a tracking system that allows the beam to be on only when the eye is in the correct position.

Another general fear for people contemplating a medical procedure is fear of “the scalpel”. Any Lasik procedure uses only a very small microkeratome blade to approach the eye, or some more recent Lasik innovations have the laser itself created the flap and avoid using any hard surface at all. There is no reason to be concerned about a scalpel, for the Lasik physician does not use one.

Many wonder about the horror stories they hear about this or any other operation, and wonder about serious consequences like going blind. According the government statistics taken by the FDA, there are no reported cases of blindness due to a Lasik operation.

Actually, the risk of a serious permanent complication due to the Lasik procedure is less than 1 percent, and the risk of any permanent complications even if not serious (such as light halos) is 3 percent or less. It is extremely rare for a patient to not have improved vision after a Lasik procedure.

If the fact that you are awake and your eyes are open during the operation bothers you, just remember that you are given a mild sedative and your eyes will be dripped with numbing drops.

Is it more the thought about the Lasik physician’s hand close to the eye that bothers you? Then just think about that your eyes will be applied with drops that make your vision black out for the ten to fifteen seconds the operation takes.

If your eyesight leaves a little to be desired, you will probably have to wear glasses or contact lenses. Many people wear these and have no problems with them.

Certain jobs make this rather impractical, and in addition having good eyesight is a major requirement for some jobs as well.

Take photographers for example. In order to take good photos you need to have excellent vision. Glasses are not always practical as you cannot put the camera right up to your eye, and yet you may not be able to see well enough without them. Depending on the type of photos a photographer takes, they may find distance or close up work harder according to their weakness of sight.

If you wanted to become a pilot your vision would have to be outstanding as well. Needless to say this job is a highly responsible and important one. If you needed to wear glasses and you broke your only pair just as you were about to take off, it wouldn’t be very convenient or safe.

Some jobs require tasks that require a specific type of sight to be good. For example if you make watches or repair jewellery for a living you will need to have excellent vision close up. Imagine trying to fix a watch if all those tiny parts appeared blurry to you!

Other examples of this include any job which involves working with computers. Good close up vision is needed for this otherwise you may suffer headaches. While a lack of good eyesight may not be a danger in a job like this, you can certainly find it harder to get on successfully if your eyesight is not perfect.

Other jobs require you to have excellent distance vision. Driving can be done with glasses or contact lenses to correct any impairment, but you must still be able to meet legal requirements with these aids if needed.

In contrast being able to see specific colours could be relevant to certain jobs. Fashion designers should be able to identify different colours and know when they look good together. Any kind of colour blindness could hamper progression in this particular field.

Some jobs have very exacting specifications you must meet in order to be considered for a position. One instance is the fire service. You might find that if you have had laser eye surgery to correct a problem, this will be good enough.

If there is a particular job you want to do it is always wise to find out whether it requires any standard of eyesight before you apply. If it does and you fall below the required standards, there is always the possibility that surgery could rectify this. You would have to find out what the options are and whether you can meet them. If you can, you could be looking at a whole new career.

Once upon a time, the visually impaired had to rely on glasses or contact lenses to see clearly. In the last few decades, however, laser eye correction procedures have restored millions of people’s vision to its former glory.

When ‘laser-assisted in situ keratomileusis’ (LASIK) was developed initially, the laser treatment was primarily intended for those with a specific medial condition, rather than for those simply seeking to avoid the hassles of wearing glasses or contact lenses. Furthermore, in scenarios where the treatment was available to the wider public, the cost precluded most people from venturing down the laser treatment route.

In recent years, however, laser eye surgery has come down significantly in price and is far more widely available than it once was. Furthermore, it isn’t restricted to those with medical conditions – anyone who simply wants to return to perfect 20:20 vision can be considered for it, assuming they are approved for treatment during the consultation period, of course.

In a nutshell, laser eye surgery succeeds by reshaping the cornea in the eye. By changing its form, the path of light through the eye to the retina is altered too, thus replicating the effect that glasses and contact lenses have on the eyes.

The success rate or surgery is good too, with the vast majority of patients enjoying greatly improved vision after treatment. Not everyone will be restored to 20:20 vision – indeed, some people may still have to wear glasses or contacts on occasion. The degree to which surgery helps a person’s vision will depend on the extent of their existing impairment, whilst age is a contributing factor too.

Furthermore, the laser correction process is more or less painless. There may be a slight irritation for a short period in some cases, but laser eye treatment on the whole won’t cause too many problems.

The great thing about laser eye surgery is that its benefits are noticeable more or less instantaneously. So the journey from squinting at the television to enjoying crystal-clear vision on the widescreen plasma can be as little as 24 hours.

Anyone who says that wearing glasses or contact lenses isn’t that much of a hassle may have a good point, but they probably have 20:20 vision themselves.

Indeed, life through a pair of manmade lenses isn’t difficult to adapt to, but there are many little annoyances that go with the territory that makes laser eye treatment all the more appealing. No more smudging, no more messing around with contact lens solution and, importantly, no more squinting at the television when you accidentally leave your glasses on the bus!

Laser eye surgery is one of the most valuable medical developments of our lifetime. It has given ophthalmologists a tool to improve sight and in most cases eliminate the need for glasses for good.

Since the new technique was perfected in the late 1980s it has transformed thousands of lives and continues to grow in popularity. This highly specialised procedure allows surgeons to reshape the eye’s cornea correcting the faults that cause blurring of vision. The treatment can be used to correct both Myopia (nearsightedness) and Hyperopia (farsightedness) so the days when thick glasses or contact lenses were the only option to see clearly are gone.

The idea of laser eye surgery has been around since the 1950s and was the result of several different doctors who all played a part in the advance of the procedure. The technique was initially the innovation of Jose Barraquer, a Spanish ophthalmologist who first came up with the idea of cutting into the eye’s cornea to alter its shape.

Twenty years on, the radial keratotomy procedure was developed by the Russian doctor, Svyatoslav Fyodorov, who stumbled upon the important finding when he was treating a boy who had fallen and cut his eye on his glasses. Fyodorov discovered that by shaving off the front layer of the eye the young boy had recovered with better sight than before.

The development of the Excimer laser by a group of scientists from the University of California turned the eye surgery dream into a reality and, because of the inventiveness and dedication of these doctors, the first pioneering surgery was performed in 1989 in Greece. Since then the operation has become a common procedure performed around the globe.

Further developments to the procedure have resulted in two main types of laser eye surgery. Photorefractive Keratectomy, commonly known as PRK, a procedure carried out on the surface of the eye, and LASIK surgery, which differs because of the incision made to the surface of the eye and the laser treatment that is applied to the corneal tissue beneath.

Because of the delicate nature of an eye the operation needs to be performed with great care and, although the technology sounds complicated, in the hands of a qualified practitioner it is a relatively straightforward one. In general, the operation takes around 30 minutes although the actual laser treatment can take as little as a minute.

The technology and development of laser eye surgery has resulted in a simple painless procedure with a very quick recovery time. Today the surgery boasts a 95% success rate with most patients enjoying full 20/20 vision which is a testament to the brilliance of the doctors who invented the ground breaking operation.

One day when I read magazines about eyes, I noticed one method which called homeopathically. It is said an alternative medical practice in which small doses of a healing ingredient are used to stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities. There are several homeopathic remedies often recommended as treatments to improve eyesight.

Dr. Edward Kondrot, an ophthalmologist who includes homeopathic remedies in his practice, recommends taking Ruta Gaveolens. Ruta reduces stiffness in the eye and eyelids that can lead to eye strain and headaches. Ruta is especially useful for those sensitive to light.

Argentum Nitricum is helpful when you might be overusing your eyes or doing extensive detailed work. It helps the eyes by strengthening the eye muscles, which in turn keeps the vision focused and steady.

Use homeopathic tissue salts. Tissue salts taken for over six months can help improve vision. Cindee Gardner, PhD, a homeopath, writes that these tissues salt “help rebuild the eyes and tissues at a cellular level.” Tissue salts to try include Magnesia Phosphorica and Calcarea Fluorata.

Kali phosphoricum has been used for blurred vision and tired eyes. According to the Truestar Health Encyclopedia, “This remedy can be helpful when exhaustion from illness, overwork, or stress has led to eyestrain.”

After reading this article, I went to the Wikipedia website to search the homeopathy and I found it was so famous a treading method that everyone should know it while I myself should don’t know! How ignorant I am! So I decided to study homeopathy seriously.

I learned that homeopathy is a form of alternative medicine, first proposed by German physician Samuel Hahnemann in 1796 that treats patients with heavily diluted preparations which are thought to cause effects similar to the symptoms presented. Homeopathic remedies are prepared by serial dilution with shaking by forceful striking, which homeopaths term “succussion,” after each dilution under the assumption that this increases the effect of the treatment. Homeopaths call this process “potentization”. Dilution often continues until none of the original substance remains.

This article and the homeopathy suddenly made me interested in medical. Maybe when the next year I go to university, the major of medical will be one of my choices.

With some eye muscle exercises and knowing the correct things to do, it is not impossible to accomplish your perfect eyesight once more. In this article, we are going to go through underlying pointers on how to naturally restore your eyesight.

1. Avoid food rich in fat

Research has indicated that those with eye problem usually have from high blood pressure within the eyeball as well. Reduce on your fatty food and try to eat healthily. In this way, eyeball blood pressure will decrease and this will lighten strain on the eyes.

2. Sunshine

Sunlight improves the eyes and the pupils in many wondrous ways. For instance, it looses tight muscles. The nerves and muscles just naturally let go of strain and tension, the leading reason of poor eyesight.

You can do some “sunning” exercises – sit down under the sun, relax your facial and back muscles, close your eyes and look up at the sun. If your eyes start to tear or water, that’s a good sign. Tear is cathartic in nature.

3. Do not wear glasses

Contrasting to what most people think, glasses make your eyesight worse over time. It is only a short-lived fix. The glasses are doing all the work and your eye muscles weaken because they are under-utilized. So it is pivotal to learn to take your glasses off, especially in non-demanding, non-threatening situations.

4. Get some bilberry extract

Bilberry extract is found to help improve eyesight in some people. Go check out your local pharmacy! They might have it. Mine doesn’t, by the way.

5. Exercise all eye muscles

This is the key torestoring your eyesight. loose eye muscles will only add to your degree. One simple exercise is to shift focus from far and near objects. It keep the eye muscles elastic and stop them from being fixed or frozen in one position.

Naturally restore your eyesight through eye exercises

The muscles inside your eyes determine the eye’s power to focus. So if it’s loose, your eyes are in trouble. Exercise helps strengthen eye muscles and subsequently, improve your eyesight naturally.

I didn’t believe it at first too, not until my eyesight improves tremendously after 3 months of daily eye exercises. I must admit that I put in a lot of effort to achieve that. But the payoff not a perfect eyesight is worth every minute of those days that I spent doing “stupid” eye exercises. My eyesight degree was 450. Now it’s at 100, which to me is a great achievement.

Do expect the improvement to come fast at first, but it will slow down afterwards. Just keep practicing.
